COROLLA GUIDES

  • Discover Corolla

Corolla is a village on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, between Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Historic Corolla Park is home to Currituck Beach Lighthouse, with sea views and history exhibits. Nearby, the Whalehead Club is a restored 1920s hunting retreat with original art-nouveau decor. North, the vast Currituck National Wildlife Refuge shelters shorebirds. Wild horses roam Corolla and Carova beaches.

  • 4x4 Beaches

Overlooking the vast expanse that is the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll find Currituck’s northern Outer Banks beaches of Corolla and Carova – more than 20 miles of windswept remote seascapes where you can enjoy strolling along our unspoiled shoreline, shelling or simply relaxing in the sun with a good book. Just north of Corolla, where the paved road ends, you can explore our 4×4 beach area on your own or take a guided tour.

  • Wild Horses

On the Outer Banks, legends abound—and some living legends still roam these remote beaches. The Corolla Wild Horses are descendants of colonial Spanish Mustangs brought by explorers nearly 500 years ago. Here, these wild horses roam freely and are most commonly found in the four-wheel-drive areas of Corolla and Carova. They can be appreciated from a distance on one of the wild horse tours.
